Minecraft/DwarfFortress Vault with pile of gold and diamond

The vault in my DF-inspired Minecraft fort. It is a 6x6x4 room entirely made of obsidian, and therefore completely blast-proof. The iron doors are controlled by a secret lever in the bedroom. To build it, I cast all of the obsidian in place using lava and water. It contains blocks of gold and diamond.

Minecraft House, Top View

This is a model of a house I used to live in during my studies together with four flatmates. I tried to make the model as accurate as possible in Minecraft, which was difficult due to the weird trapezoid shape of the building. Its meant as a surprise present for one of my flatmates, so psssst, don’t tell her yet. 
The model was exported with the free tool Mineways, and printed on a Zprinter 650 color 3d printer.

The tomb in my DF-inspired Minecraft fort. It is dimly lit with redstone torches. The big thing there in the middle is a stone coffin. It is engraved with images of squares.

Every block is 1 meter(yard), tried to keep the dimensions as close to true as possible. Next is some stadium seating.

Had an amazing tour of Jo Kay’s latest build and chatted with her and Dean Groom about what they’re doing with Minecraft, kids and learning.
While I haven’t been grabbed by the Minecraft bug (I like my virtual worlds prettier and more realistic), I am in awe of what the kids are doing and what Jo has built and what Dean is building around it in terms of pedagogy. The kids are learning planning, building, creativity, citizenship, ethics, communication, cooperation and scripting — it’s pretty impressive.

Last Christmas, I gave my brother, who is an avid Minecraft fan, a Minecraft Trophy. It’s a head. On a platform. And it’s wobbly. He was happy.
I built this for Christmas 2010, but waited to put it up for the world to see. It just feels like a more personal gift that way. Big thanks to Dennis for the awesome photos.
Also, it’s kind of sad that I can’t add this to the CubeDudes group. Because, well, he is a dude. And a Cube.

I built this tower in Minecraft, starting from a sheer cliff. I smoothed the cliff, dug stairs behind it, and added a tower on top that goes above the clouds.

And yes I know that Aether clouds are usually two blocks thick, oh well. I made this portal entrance just out of excitement after my first Aether visit. The Ather logo took a VERY LONG time to edit so that everything except for the text & symbol was gone. My wrist hurt after that…
